Welcoming Your Rescue Dog to Their Forever Home — 28-Day Fillable Guide

A new chapter deserves a thoughtful start. Welcoming Your Rescue Dog to Their Forever Home is a printable and fillable 17-page A4 guide designed to support the first four weeks with your new companion.

Suitable for a rescue dog who will be the only dog in the house, or one joining dogs already at home, the guide helps you prepare your space, understand body language, introduce routines and track the little moments of progress.

Inside the 17-page PDF:

• Getting your home ready and managing the first 48 hours.
• A pathway for a new only dog.
• A pathway for introducing a rescue dog to resident dogs.
• Body-language guidance and gradual, pressure-free introductions.
• Gentle week-by-week guidance for days 1–28.
• Fillable daily rhythm and observation trackers.
• Logs for dog meetings, alone-time practice and progress review.

Digital product: One 17-page A4 PDF with 222 fillable fields and checkboxes. Nothing will be posted. Download and type using a compatible PDF reader, or print at home.

Each dog's settling-in journey is different. This is an adaptable planning guide, not a rigid training schedule or a substitute for veterinary or specialist behaviour support.

More support for pet care routines

Use the trackers to note routines and observations as your rescue dog settles in, and adjust the pace to suit the individual dog. For day-to-day handovers to another carer, explore our Dog Sitter Planner & Care Log.
